Questions
The questions we are asked, and the answers.
If yours is not here, write to us: we will add it.
The method
Do you tell us when to buy?
We tell you where today’s price stands against the last 24 months and your budget, using a rule you can read: whether it is low, average or high. Whether and how much to buy is up to you, and Coverwatt does not execute orders.
Do you forecast energy prices?
No, and we do not promise to. Nobody knows where the price will go. The method exists precisely so that you can decide without having to guess it, and show afterwards that you decided according to your rule.
Do you use artificial intelligence?
Yes: to read supplier offers, for the weekly market commentary and for the Assistant, which answers questions about your data. It does not make up figures: charts and tables are built by the tool from the real data, and any change it proposes is made only after you confirm. The price signal, on the other hand, does not use artificial intelligence: it is rule-based, and the same data always give the same signal.
What happens when the data are not enough?
We tell you. Below twenty observations on distinct days, the system issues no signal and records this in the log, instead of giving you any number at all.
Last year we fixed our price and lost out.
In 2025 the fixed price cost non-household customers on average about 14% more than the variable price: 178.08 against 156.26 €/MWh (ARERA, Annual Report 2025). That is true. The question is never fixed or variable: it is what share, and under what rule written before. Fixing 100% is a possible policy; what matters is that it was written before, approved by whoever is accountable, and that it can be shown today.
The value
How much will you save us?
We do not promise a savings percentage. We promise an account that can be checked again: once the period is closed, the variance from budget line by line, on like-for-like quantities.
Our broker, or our consortium, already handles this.
Good: keep buying from whoever you like. Coverwatt does not sell energy. It adds what is often missing: a policy written before, a log of decisions and a verifiable report, with everyone's fees stated.
We do not have an energy manager.
You still need a person who decides. The tool gives them the market, the data and the reports, so their time goes into decisions.
Our contract expires in two years.
The policy is written before the expiry date, not the day before. And the coverage position can be read mid-contract too.
Fees and getting started
Who pays you?
You do, with a fixed annual fee. Today we receive no fees from energy suppliers. If that ever happens, it will be stated with the amount, the same for every supplier in the same tender.
Do you earn more if we buy earlier, or buy more?
No. The fee does not depend on when you buy or on how much you fix.
How much does it cost?
An annual fee that depends on the scope (companies, countries, people) and on the consumption band. The amount is written in the offer.
What do we need to get started?
A recent bill and, if you have it, the latest offer from a supplier. We activate your access with your figures already loaded.
Can you read our bills?
Today we load the bill with you, at activation. Automatic reading in the tool is coming soon.
Where does our data go?
Into a space separated by client, with an action log. The details are on the data security page.
The first step
Start from a bill.
Send us a recent bill and, if you have it, the latest offer you received. We activate your access with your figures already in: what you pay, where today’s price stands against the last two years and your budget, and how much the supplier adds on top of the wholesale price. Then you decide whether it is time to ask for a fixed-price or variable-price offer. No commitment, and no forecasts.
